Building Hope, Learning Together
CAMPAIGN FOR A NEW SCHOOL BUILDING
3D rendering of the future Kathy and Mike McNulty Academy
Since its inception, the Kathy and Mike McNulty Academy (KMMA) has experienced unprecedented growth, more than tripling in size to meet the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children on Rusinga Island, Kenya. Now the school and attached medical clinic have outgrown their small, rented facilities, and struggle to adequately serve the community. Friends of KMMA-CAITHS is leading the charge to build a new school: one designed to educate students and support community health and sanitation while considering local capacity for solar power, clean water, and ongoing upkeep. The new facility will be a place to grow, learn, and heal.
Friends of KMMA-CAITHS is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the Kenyan community-based organization CAITHS in their efforts to help the poor and vulnerable people of Rusinga Island, Kenya. CAITHS provides local solutions and expertise across a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving education, sanitation, and health. Their flagship program, the Kathy & Mike McNulty Academy (KMMA), offers free education to orphaned children, provides clean water and health supplies to the impoverished, revitalizes the denuded environment, and empowers women - all to help break the cycle of poverty in AIDS-ravaged Western Kenya.
