Giving a little, Providing a lot

It doesn’t take much to have a tremendous impact on the lives of Kenya’s poor and vulnerable children, and Friends of KMMA-CAITHS is dedicated to making sure your donations are put to good use. Currently, our Board of Directors is absorbing all of the overhead costs of the organization, so that 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go directly toward helping the people of Rusinga Island.

Target your donation to one or more projects

If you prefer to dedicate your gift to a specific need or goal, browse through the individual programs below to see the many outreach activities we support. You can also check our wishlist of specific items needed on Rusinga. We will gladly make sure that your donation goes to whatever need or project you designate.

Kathy & Mike McNulty Academy

Our flagship program, KMMA educates orphaned children who could not otherwise afford public school. Students are provided with a strong, basic education, plus two meals daily, basic medical care, and a Christ-oriented curriculum.

Clean Water in every house

The WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) Program aims to supply every household with potable water cans and purification tablets, as well as provide basic education on water usage, hygiene, and waste disposal.

Planting trees to renew the soil

Donations toward Greening Rusinga Island provide new seedlings that can be be planted and maintained to create a stable landscape, where stands of trees are sustainable for the long-term benefit of the soil and community.

empowering Women in Business

This burgeoning program introduces women to healthy and sustainable income-generating activities. Funds provide basic skills training and will eventually support micro-loans for new businesses.

Sanitation and waste management

The Sweep Clean program targets local fishing villages and households, literally sweeping clean the affected areas to remove disease vectors. Public trash cans are needed for waste management, as well as supplies to build latrines.

Health & Hygiene education

An ongoing difficulty in combating disease is the lack of local knowledge about basic health, hygiene, and disease. Donations are needed to support educational programs at local schools and the purchase of sanitary supplies for adolescent girls.

Food Program for Vulnerable Youth

For many Rusingan children, especially orphans, the only food they receive is at school.  Donations to the Food Program enable us to provide families with additional food and supplies to help feed children over the weekends and during holidays.

Where funds are most needed

We are continuously evaluating the needs at KMMA, CAITHS, and of the local communities. Your donation here will enable us to respond quickly to the most critical needs of the people on Rusinga Island as they arise.
